The Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi, flanked by the Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Hon. Babajide Ambaliyu Jooda, and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, today paid a condolence visit to the home of one of its members who was shot dead by APC thugs at his shop while he was doing a car wash, just because he wore a PDP face cap on February 17, 2025. The victim, Mr. Bakare Toheeb, who was a PDP member until his death, left behind a wife and three children.

It was an emotionally laden visit at the home of the late Toheeb Bakare, a PDP member. Senator Oyewumi was almost moved to tears upon seeing the wife and young children of the deceased. He urged the family to take heart and prayed for God to accept the soul of the deceased. While empowering the wife of the deceased for the economic buoyancy of the family, he assured the children that he would sponsor their education to any level of their dreams.

"We came here to pay our late member the respect he deserves and to sympathize with the family he left behind. It’s a pity that a young man of his age would just die and leave his family with three kids. We are worried because he is a brother, a party member, and a good fellow. I urge the family to take heart, and may the Almighty God give them the ability, capacity, strength, and grace to withstand this loss,” the lawmaker added.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Sumbo Yaba said the conduct of Senator Oyewumi showed he is a compassionate leader who will always identify with his people. He said the late Toheeb was a very peace-loving person whose life was cut short by evil men of the APC. He then vowed to continue the good work of his younger brother in the party to reciprocate the kind gesture of Senator Oyewumi and the party.
