In commemoration of this year’s Workers’ Day, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, has paid glowing tribute to Nigerian workers, describing them as the driving force behind the country’s progress and development. Senator Oyewumi acknowledged the invaluable contributions of workers across various sectors to the growth and development of the country.
“On this Workers’ Day, I salute all Nigerian workers for their steadfast commitment to our nation’s progress. Over the years, they have shown remarkable resilience and patriotism in the face of significant development challenges,” he said.
He praised the role of workers in fostering peace, industrial harmony, and a stable environment for economic development. “The consistent efforts of Nigerian workers have been instrumental in sustaining peace and promoting industrial stability, which are vital to our country’s growth. Their sacrifices and hard work continue to shape a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria,” he added.
Senator Oyewumi emphasized the enduring truth of the principle that “labor creates wealth,” calling on all levels of government to prioritize labor issues and ensure the welfare of the workforce. “As we celebrate today, it is important that the government at all levels remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of workers. Their role in nation-building cannot be overemphasized,” he concluded.
