As Muslims in Nigeria join their counterparts around the world to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate and Mayegun Adinni of Irewole/Isokan/Ayedaade Federal Constituency, Senator Lere Kamorudeen Oyewumi, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah across the country.
Senator Oyewumi urged the faithful to reflect on the essence of Eid-el-Kabir by remembering the less privileged and extending support to them in the spirit of sacrifice and compassion.
“Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is a profound reminder of the values of faith, obedience, and selflessness,” he said. “As we commemorate the unwavering devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and the faith of his son, Prophet Ismail (Ishmael), let us also rededicate ourselves to the virtues of humility, generosity, and unity.”
Senator Oyewumi called on Muslims to uphold the teachings and purpose of the celebration, which centers on the trials and ultimate triumph of Prophet Ibrahim, a revered figure who passed one of the greatest tests of faith.
“I seize this opportunity to rejoice with all Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir. I pray that Almighty Allah accepts our sacrifices. As we celebrate, let us remember those who are less fortunate by supporting them to partake in the joy of the season and to foster a sense of belonging in our communities.”
He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous celebration. “May this special day bring us closer to our faith, our loved ones, and strengthen the bonds that unite our nation. Let us imbibe the principles of peace, love, and service to humanity.”
