Senator Lere Oyewumi Delivers on Promise, Complete and Hands Over Ikire Town Hall to Community

In a notable development, residents of Ikire are celebrating a significant milestone as Omo Apesin of Ikireland, High Chief, Senator Lere Oyewumi today officially handed over the fully completed modern Ikire Town Hall to the Ikire community. This commissioning marks the successful completion and fulfillment of a significant commitment to enhance social infrastructure for his constituents. The handover ceremony was a highly anticipated event, drawing a large attendance from critical stakeholders, including traditional rulers, esteemed religious leaders, prominent political figures, and members of the Ikire community.


The President, Ikire Progressive Union (IPU), Mr. Demola Akinromade highlighted Senator Oyewumi’s long-standing connection to the project. He delivered a keynote address that chronicled the facility's history, noting that “It is on record that it was Senator Lere Oyewumi, during his tenure as Chairman of Irewole Local Government, who generously donated the site for the Ikire Town Hall and substantially contributed to its foundation,” Mr. Akinromade stated. He further underscored the critical role the Senator played in bringing the project to fruition, confirming that Senator Lere Oyewumi completed the Town Hall and formally handed over the key to the community for effective management, ensuring the facility is now fully functional and accessible to the public.



In his address, Senator Lere Oyewumi expressed his profound gratitude to the paramount ruler of Ikireland, the Akire of Ikireland, Oba Olatunde Falabi Olambeloye III, and all attendees. While acknowledging the collective contributions of other illustrious indigenes of Ikireland over the years, the Senator reiterated his core mandate to prioritize community development initiatives that are specifically designed to enhance the social and economic well-being of constituents throughout the Osun West Senatorial District. The completion of this modern facility is viewed as a major advancement in providing essential civic and social infrastructure to the town.


The Akire of Ikireland, Oba Olatunde Falabi, officially commissioned the newly completed town hall, profoundly thanking Omo Apesin of Ikireland, Senator Oyewumi for his unparalleled dedication and substantial contributions to the project's successful completion. His Royal Majesty also commended and expressed gratitude to all the esteemed sons and daughters of Ikireland whose collective and generous efforts were instrumental. Finally, the Monarch appreciated all attendees before concluding with fervent prayers for the Senator's continued success and prosperity, and for the sustained peace, unity, and progress of Ikireland.


The event was graced by numerous dignitaries and community leaders, including Hon. Lanre Oladebo, Member, House of Representatives, Hon. Abiola Inaolaji, Member, Osun state House of Assembly, Osun Commissioner For Energy, Hon. Demola Adeyemo, the Akire Chief in Council, League of Imam and Alfas led by the Chief Imam of Ikireland, Sheikh Muslim Oladiran.the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) led by Elder Oketunbi. The completed Ikire Town Hall is expected to serve as a vital centre for town meetings, cultural preservation activities, public service gatherings, and collaborative economic ventures, thereby fostering greater communal cohesion and development within Ikireland.
